María de Portugal (¿?, 1313 - Évora, 18 de enero de 1357). Infanta de Portugal y reina de Castilla y de León. Hija de Alfonso IV el Bravo y Beatriz de Castilla. Esposa de Alfonso XI el Justiciero (1311 - 1350), matrimonio fruto de los acuerdos entre Castilla y Portugal del 1327.
Ambos, nietos del rey portugués Dionisio I el Labrador (1279 - 1325), y también del castellano Sancho IV el Bravo (1284 - 1295) y de su esposa María de Molina. La boda se celebró el 24 de junio de 1328 en Fuente Aguinaldo. De este matrimonio nacieron dos hijos:
Fernando (1332), muerto antes de cumplir un año y;
Pedro el Cruel (30 de agosto de 1334 - 1369), futuro rey de Castilla con el nombre de Pedro I.
No se trató de un matrimonio muy bien avenido, ya que Alfonso XI, en 1327, cuando se estaban estrechando los lazos con Portugal, conoció a Leonor Núñez de Guzmán, de la que quedó prendado, y al año siguiente, cuando ella enviudó, iniciará una apasionada relación amorosa que desplazará a la reina y tendrá cómo fruto a diez bastardos, aunque sólo cinco de ellos sobrevivieron, entre ellos en futuro rey Enrique II.
Debido a esta situación, la reina, con su hijo, regresa a Portugal, a la corte de su padre en Évora. Su padre, Alfonso IV, desde 1335, ejercerá presión para conseguir la separación de Alfonso y Leonor, implicando al papado, negando la colaboración militar contra los musulmanes, apoyando a los rebeldes castellanos contra su rey, e incluso invadiendo Castilla. Finalmente, por el acuerdo de Sevilla, del 10 de julio de 1340, Alfonso XI se compromete a encerrar a Leonor en un convento y así consigue el apoyo del portugués en la batalla de Salado, a pesar de que, una vez finalizados los conflictos militares, regresó con su amante, eso sí, dando un mejor trato a la reina.
A la muerte del rey, el 26 de marzo de 1350, es cuando, junto a Juan Alfonso de Alburquerque, amo y mayordomo mayor del infante heredero Pedro, inicia una gran influencia en el gobierno del reino de Castilla. Después de la boda de su hijo con Blanca de Borbón, María tomará parte de la revuelta nobiliaria en 1354, en contra de Pedro, entregando Toro a los sublevados, y por lo cual fue hecho preso. Después regresará a Portugal, y fallecerá en Évora el 18 de enero de 1357. Sus restos fueron traslados a Sevilla y está enterrada junto a su primogénito fallecido en el convento de San Clemente.

Infanta Maria of Portugal (pron. IPA: [m%C9%90'%C9%BEi%C9%90]) was a Portuguese infanta, first daughter of King Afonso IV of Portugal and his first wife Beatrice of Castile. Her maternal grandparents were Sancho IV of Castile and María de Molina.
She was born on 9 February 1313 and became Queen consort of Castile by marriage to Alfonso XI in 1328. She was the mother of Pedro of Castile.
She died in Évora on 18 January 1357 and is buried in the Chapel of the Kings in the Seville Cathedral.
