Dear Panagiotis and Margarita:
We have so many memories with Alcira, Memeno's little cousin.. Mercedes'God daughter.
I must confess my fun memories on our first time on the Century, which came not long after we went to Los Caballos with Panagiotis .
I can distinctly hear "La Cucaracha" everytime Margarita walked into afternoon tea.
Alcira was the expert on everything we had to know on the Ship, and on the islands. She told Memeno he had to give himself a gift instead of buying gifts for others (and he bought his watch with her in St Barts) . A wonderful day the Hotel Presidente in Cozumel . Her telling me I was crazy to go swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman and the kids, and how she laughed when I told her once I saw them I was terrified but had to jump in to give the example. Panagiotis was the best host ever and Maragaritula the best behaved child. I had never sailed before!
We sailed again, but that first trip has the fondest memories.
Miami was a whole new life and a whole new picture, which we were part of when we visited, and then Greece we only got to know by all the pictures that she always sent.
I must say in Caracas, before we became family, many of us preserve the image of the Alcira of the late 70"s and early 80's with her beautiful hands and red nails... the exotic bird executive girl.
Panagis and Margarita, I hope the good times will be the ones forever engraved in your minds. We all need to stay close..

Alcira taught me to eat tomatoes.
Coming from a Greek girl, that probably doesn't mean much until you understand how much I stubbornly hated tomatoes and refused to even try.
I met Alcira when I became acquainted with my now best friend of over 13 years. Every summer since then, Alcira and Panagioti welcomed me to their village and treated me like family. Those are the fondest summers of my childhood - spending time with my best friend on the beach or playing backgammon in the shade and then coming home to amazing meals cooked by Panagiotis and of course Alcira's incredible tomato salad.
Even after Alcira and Margi left Greece to go to America, I never stopped thinking of Alcira and Panagioti as family and would never forget the incredible summers I spent in Ξυλοκαστρο.
Still, every time I savour the sweet taste of fresh Greek tomatoes I always think of Alcira.
You'll always be in my heart, and may you rest in peace.

¡Tantos recuedos de mi infancia con Alcira! Jugando en el jardín de la casa de El Rosal de los tíos Juan y Helena; en algún baile de traje largo y en las fiestas de Navidad en El Parnaso, la casa del Abuelo-Papi. Alcira siempre elegante, alegre, llena de energía, liderando una horda de primos. Siempre hermosa.

Gozamos horrores la tropa de primos en los cumpleaños de María Teresa en la casa al lado de los Urdaneta, cuando jugábamos hasta caer exhaustos y al final de la tarde venían a proyectar aquellas películas con Doris Day y Cary Grant en el jardín. O cuando nos apoderábamos de la armada de triciclos en la casa del tío Enrique, disfrazados de hadas madrinas, mariachis y toreros. Por allí deben andar las fotos.
