Biografía
No se sabe mucho sobre la vida de Gisla. Incluso Liutprand , el historiador contemporáneo de Berengario II, es bastante reticente. Probablemente su madre fue Bertilla , la primera esposa de Berengario I ; y como el matrimonio entre Bertilla y Berengario se produjo hacia el 875 , se supone que Gisla nació al año siguiente [1] . No se sabe con certeza incluso cuándo tuvo lugar el matrimonio de Gisla con Adalbert , pero se estima que el matrimonio se realizó con una buena aproximación entre 902 y 903 : no más tarde del 903 porque en 918su hijo Berengario debía tener al menos quince años, ya que ya era conde y mensajero imperial [2] , no antes del 902 porque Adalberto todavía era aliado de Ludovico di Provenza , el adversario de Berengario del Friuli ; probablemente el matrimonio con Gisla, la única hija de Berengario del Friuli, marcó el cambio de alianzas [3] .
Finalmente, ni siquiera la fecha de la muerte de Gisla se conoce con certeza: aún estaba viva el 26 de enero de 913 , ya que su esposo es llamado en un diploma por el rey Berengario I "gloriosissimus brand et dilectissimus gener noster" (glorioso marqués y nuestro amado yerno), pero poco después, evidentemente viudo, Adalberto se casó con Ermengarda , hija de Adalberto II de Toscana y Berta de Lotaringia , con un matrimonio que marcó un nuevo cambio de alianzas [3] .
