Nació en San Félix de Curaridal, antigua provincia de Coro, hoy en día estado Falcón. Fue el décimo quinto hijo de Alférez Real Antonio de Febres-Cordero y de María Bernarda Perés Padrón. Contrajo matrimonio en primeras nupcias en 1790, con María Prudencia Oberto Farías, y en segundas, con María Elauteria Oberto Chirino, tía de su primera mujer. Con sucesión en ambos enlaces. En unión de su familia pasó a vivir en los Puertos de Altagracia, cuna de sus dos esposas, donde fue Teniente Justicia Mayor, pasando más tarde a Maracaibo, sirviendo en dicha ciudad como Capitán de las Milicias Regladas de Blancos. Del Primer enlace nacierón Antonio Febres-Cordero y Oberto, que sigue al II. Gral. León de Febres-Cordero y Oberto, que sigue al II-A. Isidro Febres-Cordero y Oberto, que sigue al II-B. Francisca María Febres-Cordero y Oberto, quien fallecio soltera y de avanzada edad en Mérida. Del segundo matrimonio los hijos fuerón: Dolores Febres-Cordero y Oberto, Mariana Febres-Cordero Oberto.
