Juan Mathé de Luna (Sevilla, hacia 1250​-1299) fue un Almirante de la flota castellana.

Biografía Nace en Sevilla, hacia 1250 y se cría junto al príncipe Don Sancho, hijo de Alfonso X. El rey Don Sancho le daría el señorío de Huelva, lo que le obligaba a defender toda su costa. Como jefe de la Armada defendió la costa desde el Algarve hasta el estrecho de Gibraltar, lo que le llevó a llevar a cabo arduos combates contra los musulmanes. Se le concedió también el título de Camarero Mayor, que equivalía a Jefe de la Casa Real.

Dio a sus hermanas Doña María y Doña Leonor unas casas para que construyeran un convento, el Convento de las Dueñas, sito frente al actual Palacio de las Dueñas.

En 1294 los meriníes cercaron Tarifa y el rey envió a Juan Mathé para levantar el cerco. Desde el mar impidió el desembarco de los musulmanes y desde tierra, con sus tropas, impidió la llegada de tropas moras desde Málaga.​

Gatón del Bierzo (853—878), conde de El Bierzo y de Astorga, probablemente hijo del rey Ramiro I de Asturias, fue un magnate que jugó un papel primordial tanto en la reconquista militar de las tierras de Galicia, León y Zamora, como en su repoblación.

La línea genealógica más aceptada se basa en la obra Al-Bayan al-Mughrib escrita por Ibn Idhari quien lo sitúa como hermano del rey Ordoño I de Asturias y, por tanto, hijo de Ramiro I. Otros autores, sin embargo, lo suponen cuñado Ordoño.

Contrajo matrimonio con Egilona, naciendo cuatro hijos de este matrimonio:

Ermesenda Gatónez casada con Hermenegildo Gutiérrez, magnate gallego, dux de Galicia, conquistador de Coimbra, y mayordomo mayor del rey Alfonso el Magno. De este matrimonio nacieron: Elvira Menéndez, esposa de Ordoño I de Galicia, y Gutierre Menéndez, Conde del Miño y padre de San Rosendo.
