Ben M. Angel notes: There is no indication in any reliable sources that shows where Imma was born, or where she died. She is from Alamannia, which is located within Swabia (present Baden-Wurttemberg). Her husband was from Kraichgau, an Alamannian state located near Anglachgau in Swabia. There is no reasonable indication that she had ever seen Aachen (though her daughter would later become quite familiar with the city).

FMG identified the region in which Imma's husband's family was most involved in as Thurgau, which was supposed to be somewhere near Lake Constance:

Thurgau was located south of Lake Constance. It is now the name of a canton in north-east Switzerland, but it is unclear whether this is co-extensive with the medieval county of the same name.

Also:

Europäische Stammtafeln records Gerold as "Graf im Mittelrheingebiet", implying a Franconian origin. However, a strong connection with Swabia is indicated by the places where his sons were recorded as counts.

Her name is sometimes spelled Imma.

Royal Title: Duchess of Swabia
